OT for Everyday Living

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

ADLs include, but are not limited to, washing and dressing, meal preparation, household jobs, shopping, gardening, leisure and work activities.

I will first assess your abilities and difficulties, and then together we will devise a treatment plan.

Treatment itself will focus on increasing your balance, strength and stamina to maximise  your independence, safety and participation in activities that are important to you.

I can advise on a variety of techniques that will help you to compensate for functional impairments,  and may suggest aids or adaptive equipment that will also help you.

Aids and Equipment

You may already be aware that you need an aid or piece of adaptive equipment, but don't know where to start looking.

I will be able to advise you on what will best suit you needs, and work with you to ensure that you are able to use the equipment safely and effectively.

Wheelchairs and Specialist Seating

I am able to assess your wheelchair and seating requirements.  I have links with specialist equipment companies, and will work closely with them to ensure that we can give you the best options to maximise your mobility, posture and pressure relief needs.

Home Modification

If you need to modify your home because of a functional impairment I will work with you, your builder and /or architect to ensure that your new environment will be suitable for your needs.

Home modifications can range from simple things like grab rails to more complex work such as full bathroom, kitchen and access modifications.
